Our Classic Snake Story
In 1989, owner Chuck Perrault had quite the experience. A man we will call Brad drove onto the lot with his Subaru, went inside and patiently waited for his turn. Brad then proceeded to ask for help dismantling his dashboard. Crazy as it may sound, Brad needed his dashboard removed because his 7-foot boa constrictor had slithered under it.
It appears that while Brad had stopped at the bank to make a deposit, his 7-foot snake, Balboa, ventured up the car’s heating vent. Brad tried to get the snake out on his own, but he soon discovered he was running out of time and needed a professional to remove the dashboard. That’s when a friend directed Brad to Spruce Park Auto Body.
Brad went straight to Spruce Park and explained the situation to the shop owner. Once the shock wore off, Chuck got on the intercom and asked for a volunteer technician to remove the snake. After the employees stopped laughing, a 19-year veteran of Spruce Park agreed to remove the glove box to provide access but said, “I’m not touching any snake!” He removed the glove box, saw the snake and decided to just give moral support from there. A few moments later, the snake was successfully removed by Brad. Since Chuck had not set rates for snake removal, it was on the house, and everyone went home with a story to tell.
“But I Just Got it Back!”
One customer, whose name we dare not mention, had just received his receipt and keys to his freshly repaired pickup. Walking out the door, he was all smiles as he had just reacquired his prized truck, now looking like new.
Smiles quickly turned to frowns shortly after starting the engine. Popping the clutch in forward gear, the truck lurched forward into our concrete building, damaging the truck identically to before the repair!
